ISAB collects a small amount of personal contact information which is stored on computer and used for the benefit of society members. PrivacyISAB uses the information it collects to provide its service to members. ISAB does not, and will not, make the information it collects from you available to any other organisations, no matter how apparently innocent or worthy, without your consent. Your postal address is used to send out the Adaptive Behavior journal and/or Simulation of Adaptive Behavior conference information. Information concerning your organisation may be published, with your consent, in the Members' section of the ISAB Web Site in the list of organisations where research on simulation or modelling of adaptive behavior is carried out. ISAB does not allow its membership list to be used for distribution of arbitrary announcements and circulars. The list is used for the distribution of ISAB's own announcements to members. Advertisement of ISAB activities, and items judged to be of general interest to members, such as the Simulation of Adaptive Behavior or Artificial Life conferences, also uses the membership list. You may opt out of such general information communications if you choose (you will still receive announcements of significant ISAB-related matters, such as notice of elections, even if you opt out of general informational mailings). If you receive general mailings from ISAB which you consider inappropriate, please tell us| You can inspect the information you have provided to ISAB, and edit it if your circumstances change, at any time using the Registration section of the ISAB Web Site. You need to log in to have access to the information. SecurityNo information is ultimately secure. Nevertheless, ISAB takes pains to ensure that the information you provide through the Web Site, such as personal details, email and postal address, is not easily accessible to arbitrary or unauthorised people. We store no sensitive financial information, such as credit card numbers, on our web hosts. Your password is not stored at all (which is why you can request the Web Site to generate a new one, but not to send you your old one) so will not be compromised if the ISAB Web Site is. However, because we do not (yet) use a secure transport protocol to access the web site, your password is transmitted in clear from your browser to the server when you first log in and could conceivably be recorded using (for example) a packet sniffer. This is why the site does not allow you to choose passwords but instead generates them for you. There is no complete security on the web. We believe that access to the private sections of the ISAB Web Site is as well-controlled as is feasible given the technology used, but we do not and cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information stored by ISAB on the web hosts or on other machines used for processing member-related data. FeedbackMany heads are (sometimes) better than one... If you have suggestions for improvements of the security of the ISAB Web Site, or comments and suggestions on our use of information and/or our privacy policy, please contact us. |
